The walls of Eketahuna's old post office were alive with red dresses, large-scale landscapes, churches and native birds made from ceramic tiles and abstracts worthy of Picasso at the town's Labour Weekend art show.
The biennial event, which has been running since 1986, featured the work of 40 artists from the lower North Island, including Wairarapa, Tararua, Manawatu and Hawke's Bay. The show was opened by Wairarapa List MP Ron Mark on Friday evening, which was followed by a craft fair on Main St on Saturday.
Art show founder Margaret Parsons said the show, which runs until Sunday, November 2, has been popular with passers-by and several items have already sold. Erin Kavanagh-Hall had a browse.
