A permanent home has been found on Waiheke Island for a large, corrugated galvanised steel sculpture by internationally renowned artist Jeff Thomson. The piece, titled Contour, will be sited at Atewhai Whenua reserve overlooking Matiatia.
To meet Occupational Safety and Health requirements, the 20m-long sculpture will have its sharp edges treated and be secured to the ground.
The $18,000 artwork, part of the Sculpture on the Gulf outdoor exhibition in February, was bought by a group of Waiheke residents as a gift to the island and to profile the biennial exhibition.
