KEY POINTS:
An arson attack on a commercial building in Christchurch yesterday caused damage worth about $1.8 million.
That was the estimate of an assurance assessor who visited the Repco building, said Detective Peter McKenzie of Papanui police.
He said a skip holding cardboard was torched in the early morning and the fire spread to the concrete tilt-slab building on the corner of Wainoni Rd and Bickerton St.
Mr McKenzie wants anyone with any knowledge of the fire to contact him.
