Arrests made over 2007 rape

Police in Whangarei have arrested two men in relation to a rape alleged to have happened more than two years ago.

Two men allegedly raped an 18-year-old woman in the toilets of the Information Centre on Tawera Road, Whangarei, in September 2007.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dene Begbie of Whangarei CIB said the duo, aged 20 and 21, would appear in Whangarei District Court on Thursday facing charges of sexual violation and abduction.

He said the arrests were the result of "good policing and investigation work" over the past two years.
