The man who was hunting with Cameron McDonald when he was shot dead in the Aorangi Ranges says he will take no comfort from a charge being laid over the death.
Greytown man Doug Williams was deer stalking with the 29-year-old Auckland man, known as Cam, when he was fatally shot on April 7.
Yesterday, Christopher Dummer, 54, of Island Bay, appeared in court charged with careless use of a firearm causing the death of Mr McDonald.
He appeared before Judge Oke Blaikie in Wellington District Court and did not enter a plea or make an application for name suppression.
Dummer was remanded on bail to appear again in two weeks and was ordered to surrender all firearms along with his gun licence, not to apply for travel documents and not to contact witnesses.
