A 35-year-old man was to appear in court today charged with thousands of dollars worth of shoplifting offences in Napier over the past three weeks.
The man is alleged to have been making regular trips from Hastings to Napier to raid The Warehouse and Pak'n Save, and faces six charges dating to the start of December, said Senior Sergeant Fred van Duuren, of Napier Police.
He was arrested after an incident yesterday afternoon at The Warehouse.
Police and staff recovered items being removed from the store at the time and Mr van Duuren said more items were found at the accused's home.
The total value of goods he is accused of taking is estimated at $5500, including about $1200 in one incident.
