KEY POINTS:
A 50-year-old man has been arrested over the fatal stabbing of a youth during an argument in a south Auckland street last night, police said today.
The man is due to appear in Manukau District Court next week.
The arrest arose from the 10th homicide inquiry in New Zealand since the New Year.
The 15-year-old victim died at the scene of the 11.30pm incident in Southview Place, Manurewa.
A police spokeswoman said she did not yet have details of the charges the man would face.
She said there were reports that the youth was tagging a property in the street before he was stabbed.
That was still to be confirmed, and police were continuing to investigate details of events leading up to the argument.
The killing came just a day after 22-year-old student Saishwar Krishna Naidu was stabbed to death in south Auckland, while working in a dairy shop.
It happened on the same day a 14-year-old boy was charged with murder over the death of a man in Tokoroa.
The boy, from Tokoroa, is due to appear in Rotorua Youth Court on Tuesday.
He was charged just hours after the 22-year-old man was found near the corner of St Andrews Drive and Fife Place early yesterday morning.
A woman returning home from work yesterday morning found the victim about 2.15am.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to Tokoroa Hospital, where he died.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today.
Police said they were trying to reconstruct the movements of the victim before he was found injured.
They wanted anyone with information about the killing to contact them.
