A 39-year-old man will appear in court tomorrow after a loaded firearm and a suspected drugs haul were found in a crashed vehicle in south Auckland last night.
The man was arrested after police found a loaded firearm, a large amount of ammunition and a large bag containing a large amount of a white crystalline powder which could be methamphetamine, Detective Sergeant Steve Brewer said.
The man will appear in Papakura District Court tomorrow facing firearms charges as well as a charge of driving while disqualified.
Mr Brewer said the man could also face drug charges.
Police at the crash scene had first found a small amount of what was thought to be methamphetamine, then after a further search found a large bag of the same substance, wrapped in plastic and weighing 1.1kg, along with some measuring instruments.
