KEY POINTS:
A 29-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of an elderly Chinese woman who died three days after she was attacked in her South Auckland home in June.
Yin Ping Yang, 80, died in hospital after a man broke into her home in Manurewa on June 11.
Police said the man was arrested today and was due to appear in Manukau District Court tomorrow charged with her murder.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry said Mrs Yang's family had been told today about the arrest and were "delighted".
He said the man was a suspect early in the investigation and the police team was delighted by the result.
He refused to say any more about the man or how police gathered the evidence to arrest him.
