Police have charged a 43-year-old man with the murder of New Lynn massage parlour owner Xiukun Feng.
Yesterday's arrest came a week and a half after Ms Feng, who was also known as Nancy, was found dead in the backseat of her husband's car.
The 54-year-old Chinese woman was farewelled by friends and family at the Manukau Memorial Gardens in Papatoetoe yesterday.
The West Auckland man charged with her murder is due to appear in the Waitakere District Court today.
News of the arrest came as a relief to Ms Feng's family, including her mother-in-law, who feared the case would "never come to an end".
Detective Senior Sergeant John Sutton said police still faced a long inquiry despite the arrest, but they were not seeking anyone else in connection with the killing.
Those ongoing inquiries will include trying to locate missing items belonging to Ms Feng, including a gold and black watch, red handbag and jewellery.
The jewellery includes a pearl clip and gold bracelet with pink, green and purple shapes etched onto it.
Police are asking secondhand dealers to watch out for the items.
Ms Feng's body was found by a security guard patrolling The Warehouse carpark in Rata St, New Lynn.
He first saw her slumped in the backseat of the car in the early hours of Saturday, April 30, but thought she was sleeping.
It was not until the guard saw the car and her body in the same spot the following morning that he thought something was wrong and called police.
That same day Ms Feng's missing Samsung cellphone was found dumped on a walkway next to the Northwestern Motorway.
Ms Feng and husband Kerry Peterson lived in Mt Wellington. Two young Chinese relatives shared the home.
She owned the Night Pearl massage parlour in Gt North Rd.
