Arrest after serious assault in central Auckland

A man has been badly hurt in an assault near Auckland's Karangahape Rd.

Police were called to Pitt St just after midnight.

The injured man was taken to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition.

Another male, aged 28, was arrested at the scene.

He's been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear at Auckland District Court today.
