One person has been arrested on Auckland's North Shore after an armed offenders squad callout was sparked by a sighting of a man waving a rifle.
The AOS was camped outside an address in the small street of Coronation Rd in suburban Glenfield after emergency services were notified about 2.30pm.
Police spokesman Kev Loughlin said contrary to some media reports, no schools nearby had been affected by the situation.
Inspector Lou Alofa of the police communications centre said two people were subsequently arrested by police about 4.15pm.
He said all police cordons which were set up while police were looking for the man allegedly seen with the rifle have now been dropped.
Mr Alofa had not been informed what charges the arrested person would face.
Hesaid there was no connection with an AOS callout earlier today in south Auckland.
Busy streets around Panmure were closed for about an hour at lunch time while armed police raided a house in a search for a wanted man.
However, it is believed the man they were searching for was not at the house.
