Three Army officers have been found guilty of mistreating officer cadets during a training exercise at Waiouru in March.
The cadets were restrained and had poured water over their heads and mouths.
The Army said it did not condone mistreatment of any nature and described the incident as an error in judgement by inexperienced officers.
The charges were heard this week by the Commander of the Army Training Group based at Waiouru.
The officers were fined and cannot be promoted for a year.
