An image of an Armourguard cash transit van being held up at gunpoint has been released by police in the hopes of tracking down the would-be robber.
The van was held up at the Z Service Station on Roscommon Road, Manurewa on the morning of June 27 by a masked man brandishing a long-barrelled rifle.
The man got out of a stolen silver Nissan Primera on the forecourt of the petrol station and demanded money as he pointed the rifle at the Armourguard staff members locked in the van, police said.
Unable to gain entry, the offender and an accomplice fled the petrol station in a stolen car onto Browns Road in Manurewa.
Nothing was obtained by the would-be robbers and fortunately no injuries were sustained, police said.
