KEY POINTS:
Two women were confronted by an armed, masked man who demanded drugs and money from them in a Wellington pharmacy yesterday.
The terrified women were shut in the pharmacy office while the man, armed with a black handgun, made his getaway.
Detective Sergeant Damian Murphy, of Wellington CIB, said the robbery happened about 10.30am at the Alexander Pharmacy, on Willis St, just south of the Dixon St intersection, in the city's central business district.
"The two employees rightly complied with the offender's instructions and, although they were shaken by the ordeal, they are assisting police with the investigation," Mr Murphy said.
The offender was described as European, of thin to medium build, and about 1.8m tall.
He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and sneakers, and carrying a predominantly black backpack with red and white or grey sections.
Other people were about the area when the robbery happened and police want anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
