Four men escaped with a bag of cash when they held up a security van outside a Westpac Bank in Auckland today.
Police spokesman John Fraser said one offender in the Ponsonby Road robbery was armed with a shotgun.
The robbers fled in a stolen red Mazda, located a short time later by police.
It was partially burnt out and abandoned at St Lukes shopping centre car park.
The two security guards in the van were not injured during the robbery.
Only a description of one offender was available at this stage, Mr Fraser said.
He was described as a heavy-set Maori wearing a gray hoodie.
