A robber brandishing a handgun fled on a motorcycle with an undisclosed amount of cash from a Feilding bank today.
Police are investigating the robbery which happened about 12.45pm at BNZ on the corner of Fergusson and Manchester Streets.
A police spokeswoman said the offender parked a red motorcycle on the footpath, left it running, and entered the bank still wearing a full-face motorbike helmet before approaching the woman cashier with a handgun and demanding money.
A quantity of cash was handed over and the offender left the bank, riding off along Manchester Street in the direction of South Street.
No one was injured during the robbery, although the cashier was left shaken.
Police would not say how much money was taken.
The offender was described as a slim Caucasian, wearing blue overalls which appeared new and slightly too big, black footwear, and a red full-faced motorbike helmet.
It was not clear whether the robber was male or female.
Police want to hear from anyone with information about the robbery or anyone who had recently sold blue overalls to someone fitting the description.
