A trio of armed robbers got away with only Easter eggs when held they up a Christchurch dairy yesterday. A man and two women, armed with a long barrelled rifle, demanded money and cigarettes from a shopkeeper at the Bishopdale Discounter in Leacroft Street, Bishopdale at 7.50pm.
When the items weren't handed over, one of the women grabbed a container of chocolate eggs from the counter and the three fled onto Leacroft Street.
They were believed to have left in a waiting vehicle.
Police said they were concerned by the offenders' actions which could have resulted in serious injury or death to the lone shopkeeper.
They asked that anyone with information contact Detective Richard Quested at the Papanui Police Station on (03) 374 1700.
