Only minutes later, Far North police were called to a ram raid in Taipa.
The burglary happened just after 3.45am today at Reel and Rod at the intersection of State Highway 10 and Oruru Rd.
The offenders were able to get into the store and take some items before fleeing.
Police were still working to confirm exactly what had been taken and how many people were involved.
It's not the first time the Gull Service Station has been the target of a robbery. In July last year two workers fled into a safe room after a man barged in just minutes after threatening staff at the nearby McDonald's.
In May 2016, three boys aged 13,14 and 15 were arrested after allegedly entering the store wielding a baseball bat and knives. They threatened the attendant before making off with the cash register.
