Armed robbers have again smashed into a Waikato BP service station - the third time in three months.
Fortunately, the sole staff member at BP Horotiu saw the four armed robbers coming and locked himself in a room, Waikato Senior Sergeant Ray Malcolmson said.
The robbers struck at 4.38am and smashed into the premises before taking cigarettes and making off with the till.
The group took off in a dark-coloured vehicle.
The service station was last targeted on July 18 just after midnight when robbers also took cigarettes and cash. The station has only been open for about 18 months, since work was completed on the Ngaruawahia section of the Waikato Expressway.
