A robber who had trouble getting his victims to take him seriously has been re-sentenced after absconding home detention from his mother's house.
Brett Allan King, 21, was given seven months home detention in August last year after being convicted of robbing an unknown person of a wallet while armed with a knife and threatening three others.
But Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish said he had been unable to comply with the rules and had cut off his home detention bracelet and left his mother's home.
She jailed him for 14 months to be served in secure facility.
The court was told at his original sentencing that his victim had difficulty in taking him seriously even though he was armed with a knife. No one was hurt in the incidents.
