An armed police callout in the Wellington suburb of Miramar is now over.
Police this afternoon received a call about three males who were in Park Road, one of whom was carrying what looked like a rifle, said police communications acting shift commander Mark Oliver.
The man was not pointing the rifle at anyone or behaving in a threatening manner.
Armed police made enquiries in the area as a precaution but did not find anyone, said Mr Oliver, and were satisfied that there was no risk to the public.
