Armed police have arrested a man near Avondale Primary School in Auckland this afternoon for allegedly firing a gun nearby.
A police spokesman said officers responded to reports “a man had been seen discharging a firearm at the back of an address on Great North Rd” just before 3pm.
Officers found a man with a BB gun and arrested him. Police were considering charges. The police spokesman said nobody was injured.
When the Herald phoned the school, the receptionist said officers were standing in front of her.
“Do you want to speak to the New Zealand Herald?,” she asked the officers. After a short conversation between them, the receptionist told the Herald “it is all under control”.
