KEY POINTS:
A fifth man wanted by police following a family dispute at Haupara Bay, near Lake Rotoiti, has been arrested.
A 47-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and was arrested following an armed offenders squad callout in Ngongotaha on Tuesday night.
The squad surrounded a house on Ngongotaha Rd and arrested a man who was wearing a halo device around his head to stabilise broken vertebrae. He also had a broken leg in a cast.
The injuries were received after he was allegedly run over by a car during the dispute.
Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Anderson said the man had been in Rotorua Hospital since the dispute on September 27.
Police were yet to speak to him but he was either discharged or he discharged himself on Monday, Mr Anderson said.
The man appeared in the Rotorua District Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday when he would apply for bail.
Four other men face charges relating to the incident and are currently before the court.
