A man sparked an Armed Offenders Squad callout on Stewart Island last night.
A 25-year-old man was taken into custody for alleged threatening behaviour, Senior Sergeant Brian Benn of Dunedin police said.
The incident was resolved at 1am, he said.
The man had been living and working on the island, "and I don't think he will be welcome back there".
