The Armed Offenders Squad has been called out to Waikato in response to a firearms incident.
The situation was believed to have unfolded in the small town of Mokau on the North Taranaki Bight.
A police spokeswoman said one person had been taken into custody shortly before 2pm without incident.
The
AOS had been called out as a precaution after reports the offender had a gun, she said.
