The Armed Offenders Squad was deployed after police believed a man was in possession of a firearm following a family harm incident in Huntly, in Waikato.
Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in relation to the incident.
Nine police cars were reportedly seen heading to Huntly from Hamilton around 8pm, a Newstalk ZB caller said.
