A man with "unexplained injuries" was not shot at the Lower Hutt flat he was found in according to a neighbour.
The man, who lives in a Housing New Zealand-owned flat down the end of a driveway off Whites Line East, was found by police on Thursday with serious injuries.
He was taken to Hutt Hospital and his injuries where he remains in a moderate and stable condition.
A neighbour told the Herald she looked out her window on Thursday to see Armed Offenders Squad officers heading towards the property.
The woman, who only wanted to be known as Kathleen, said the first she knew of the incident was when she looked out her window to see "people dressed all in black with big guns" moving into her back yard.
