The armed offenders squad has been called out to a Wellington house after a man pulled a knife on mental health officials trying to get him to hospital.
Wellington police communications supervisor Steven Ross said the armed offenders squad had responded to a call for help by a mental healthservice.
A police negotiating team had arrived to the scene, in Johnsonville, at about 1pm, he said.
The area around the house, on Bannister Ave, had been cordoned off.
