The armed offenders squad was believed to be involved in an incident involving a man with a firearm at Te Teko in the eastern Bay of Plenty this afternoon.
Road blocks were set up by police in the township after reports of a man with a firearm.
One resident said she was told by police not to travel on Te Teko Rd to Edgecumbe because armed offenders squad officers had cordoned off part of the road.
Police said the main road, State Highway 30, was still open.
