KEY POINTS:
An armed man stole morphine tablets from a Wellington pharmacy yesterday.
The incident happened about 12.20pm when the man, armed with a large knife, entered the Johnsonville Medical Centre Pharmacy, Moorefield Road, and threatened employees.
Wellington CIB Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Compton said the European man, dressed in camouflage-style pants and a black hooded sweatshirt, demanded drugs from the safe.
"The male was holding a large knife and made threats to the employees, and it is fortunate that they were not hurt," Mr Compton said.
The man took several packets of morphine tablets before running from the pharmacy into Trafalgar Street and leaving in a black 4WD vehicle.
