Armed police and negotiators have swooped on a Palmerston North property after a person fired an air rifle from a house.
A cordon has been put in place around the house on Glen Place, Awapuni.
Police said no one had been injured from the air rifle shot, and there were no fears for public safety.
The police armed offenders squad and a police negotiation team had been deployed.
"One person remains inside the property and police are communicating with them," police said.
