Three men have been arrested and will appear in court today after an armed home invasion in Wellington.
The men armed with weapons, including a long sword, smashed their way into the house in the suburb of Khandallah about 10.45pm and demanded money.
The men had their faces hidden, Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard said.
"The three offenders held six of the occupants in the lounge, demanding cash and property and allegedly made threats to their safety."
A seventh occupant was assaulted but escaped and was able to get help from a neighbour who called police, Ms Howard said.
The men, aged 26, 32 and 33, were found about an hour later in Upper Hutt.
They will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court this afternoon facing charges including aggravated burglary, kidnapping, injuring with intent to injure and threatening grievous bodily harm.
The assaulted person was taken to hospital but has been discharged.
