Police say they have received some good information about three robbers who terrorised an Upper Hutt couple in their home and fled with more than $50,000 on Sunday night.
Police today finished their examination today at the Chatsworth Road, Silverstream, house, which was the scene of an aggravated robbery.
Three armed and masked offenders burst into the house and confronted the married couple about 6pm on Sunday.
Malcolm Wiffen, 67, and his wife Yvonne, 65, were kicked and had rifles pushed against their heads by the robbers demanding to know where their safe was, as they ransacked the home.
The couple, who were not injured, were forced to open the safe and trio fled after taking more than $50,000 - in $10, $20, $50 and $100 notes - and gold jewellery.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper said a number of items were sent away for forensic examination.
"Police have also continued an area canvas over the past couple of days, speaking to residents in the area to gain as much information as possible as to who is responsible for this very scary incident," he said.
Police had received some good information from the public, but over the past 24 hours, it had slowed.
"We urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible," Mr Cooper said. "There will be people who know who these offenders are and we urge them to get in touch with us."
Police also want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Chatsworth Road area last weekend, leading up to the robbery.
The three offenders were described as either Maori, Polynesian or African, of athletic build and all were wearing dark coloured clothing with their faces concealed by balaclavas. One offender was around 1.57m, a second a full head and shoulders taller than that, and the third about 1.83m.
Police think a fourth person may have been involved in driving a vehicle to and from the scene, and are also seeking information on what type of vehicle that may have been.
