KEY POINTS:
Arguing and banging were heard coming from a Tokoroa flat not long before a young mother was found dead yesterday.
Police last night confirmed they were investigating the suspicious death of a woman in a two-storey block of Clyde St flats.
A neighbour told the Waikato Times the Clyde St flat was a "party haven" for young teens and that police were no strangers to it.
Police around 4.30pm yesterday after a woman, believed to be in her late teens or early 20s, was found dead.
Detective Senior Sergeant Todd Pearce, head of CIB crime services in the area, said a man at the flat had been arrested for breaching a court-imposed order.
He was to appear in Tokoroa District Court today.
Police said the cause of the woman's death was not clear and would be determined by an autopsy in Auckland this afternoon.
People present at the time of death, and neighbours, were co-operating with police to try to establish the sequence of events, Mr Pearce said.
The woman's name will not be released until extended family have been notified.
A friend of those who lived in the flat told the newspaper he was on his way there shortly before police arrived.
"I could hear arguing and banging so I rolled my eyes and took off. This is normal," he said.
Neighbours, who did not want to be named, said they saw police leading a man away in handcuffs.
One described the dead woman as an attractive young Maori who always smiled.
The house was today cordoned off and under guard while it underwent forensic examination.
