The newest mega-city cropping up in south-east Asia will be built with an eco-friendly philosophy, said the Guardian.
Iskander Malaysia will be roughly the size of Luxembourg and will burst with 3 million inhabitants by 2025. Energy to the city will be provided by renewable resources, public transport will be encouraged and waste will be diverted.
Some 23,158 hectares of land will be put aside for use as parks and biodiversity protection including three of Malaysia's six Ramsar sites (wetlands that are designated as internationally important by the 'Ramsar Convention' 1971).
The Malaysian city will act as a model which can be reused across the region by the Malaysian government.
