Archers from all over the world have flocked to Masterton for the Archery National Championships, which start tomorrow, and have spent the week preparing at Rathkeale College.
Organiser Chris Gorman, who has been an archer for 30 years, said it was the first time to his knowledge the competition had been held in Masterton.
"It's been going since New Year's Day with the Olympics qualifying events, where archers from Australia, Samoa and Tonga were qualifying for the Olympics.
"The weather has held up all right, the first couple of days there was a bit of on and off rain, but now the sun is shining and it's good."
The archers have spent the week gaining their ranking places for the weekend championship. Mr Gorman said the highlight had been the women's national record, which was reached by Olympic gold medallist Jo Sun Kim, who shot 1302 points.
