The totals
* 448,914 ratepayers across the region. Most - 413,887 - are residential.
* The ARC rates take is increasing by 34 per cent from $87.4 million in 2002-03 to $117.1 million.
* The ARC says most of the increase - $22.7 million - will pay for improved public transport.
Who's paying less?
* Some 11 per cent of ratepayers will pay less. Seven per cent of residential ratepayers have a smaller bill.
* The biggest decreases are in Franklin District, where 37 per cent of all ratepayers will get a smaller bill.
* 79 per cent of commercial and industrial ratepayers are being asked to pay less. The exception is Waitakere City.
Who's paying more?
* Half of all ratepayers are being asked to pay up to $100 more.
* Of residential ratepayers:
- 22 per cent are being asked for up to $50 more.
- 30 per cent are being asked for between $51 and $100 more.
- 20 per cent are being asked for between $101 and $150 more.
* Most ratepayers in Manukau City and Waitakere City are being asked to pay up to $100 more.
* Most ratepayers in North Shore, Papakura and Auckland City are being asked for up to $150 more.
Who's paying a lot more?
* 11 per cent of ratepayers have an increase of $200 or more.
* 1 per cent are facing an increase of more than $500.
Across Auckland?
The ARC is increasing its overall rates take by 34 per cent.
Papakura: up 44.4 per cent.
Manukau: up 44.2 per cent.
Waitakere: up 40 per cent.
Auckland City: up 32.3 per cent.
North Shore: up 30.9 per cent.
Franklin: up 19.1 per cent.
Rodney: up 18.1 per cent.
