The Interisland ferry Arahura is dry-docked at Devonport in Auckland today, so machinery and propulsion equipment can be inspected and if necessary, repaired.
Arahura's rail deck is also due for routine track maintenance, and the ship's hull and superstructure will be thoroughly washed, prior to painting.
The ferry will then undergo a sea trial in the Hauraki Gulf.
She recently completed her 50,000th crossing of Cook Strait.
