More than $100,000 has been raised for the family of slain taxi driver Hiren Mohini.
A nationwide appeal for donations was started by the Taxi Federation after Mr Mohini was killed by a passenger in the Auckland suburb of Mt Eden on January 31.
Mr Mohini picked up the man from central Auckland at about 1.12am and drove for eight minutes before he was attacked. He crashed into a tree and his attacker fled.
Barrie White, general manager of Auckland Co-op Taxis, for which Mr Mohini worked, said the company had been overwhelmed by the public's generosity.
"Everyone recognises the challenges Mr Mohini's family will continue to face well into the future, and the proceeds of this appeal will assist them," he said.
Police are still seeking the prime suspect in the killing, who has fled New Zealand.
