Police today appealed for information from the public about an aggravated robbery at an Auckland shopping mall in which an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
The robbery happened at 10.20am on Wednesday at the Westfield mall in Albany, on the North Shore, where two men confronted two guards from a security van.
Police said the offenders were heavily disguised and one of them had a hammer, which he used to threaten the guards, who were shaken by the ordeal.
The robbers, who took three canvas bags with plastic canisters containing $20 and $10 notes, made their get-away in a vehicle driven by a third man.
The vehicle, a black 1994 Mazda Lantis, had been reported stolen that morning from the North Shore suburb of Mairangi Bay.
It was located immediately after the robbery close by in The Warehouse's underground carpark.
