A 15-strong search and rescue team has been sent in search of an 87-year-old man who has been missing from for more than 40 hours.
Hoo Jong Kim, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, disappeared from his Hillcrest home at about 3pm on October 26.
Police are focussing their search on parks and domains in Birkenhead, North Shore.
North Shore Acting Senior Sergeant Steve Matheson says there is now an urgent need to find Mr Kim.
"We are concerned for Mr Kim's safety, as is his family, and we want to locate him."
Mr Kim is thought to be wearing a white cap, brown chequered jumper, black track pants, and black open toe sandals.
He speaks some English and may answer to his name.
His condition can make him disorientated and he could be sitting in a public place in plain view.
