The family of Aucklander Harmeet Sooden, held hostage in Iraq, are on stand-by to make an appeal on Iraqi radio for his release.
Mr Sooden's brother-in-law, Mark Brewer, said yesterday that the family were waiting to hear back from Canadian Government officials.
Mr Sooden, a 32-year-old Canadian citizen who has been studying at Auckland University, was kidnapped in November with three other aid workers, all from Christian Peacemaker Teams.
