Wakatipu residents will receive an apology from New Zealand Post when their lost mail is delivered to their homes on Sunday.
Queenstown police have handed over to NZ Post more than 17,000 unopened items of mail following the arrest of a contracted post delivery woman earlier this month.
The mail, which was found in her Frankton home and in an Arrowtown storage unit, will be delivered to residents in Fernhill, Arrowtown and Lake Hayes Estate by a crew of 10 posties.
The posties will also hand-deliver an apology letter from company's general manager Toby Beaglehole.
Tens of thousands of items of mail were allegedly stolen and stored by a contracted post delivery woman for two years.
