A police cordon at a Wainuiomata house where a shot was heard earlier today has now been lifted.
A member of the public reported hearing a shot about 12.45pm and the armed offender's squad was called out.
The cordon on the Castlerea St house in the Hutt Valley suburb was lifted about 3.35pm, Inspector Mike Coleman of central police communications said.
Police were continuing to speak to three occupants of the house at the police station, he said. Mr Coleman was not sure if a firearm had been found.
No one was injured.
