AOS callout in Auckland suburb of Panmure

The Police armed offender squad searched a house in the Auckland suburb of Panmure this morning looking for a man who fired a gun in an incident yesterday.

A Police spokeswoman said no one was injured when the man fired the gun yesterday, but a car involved in that incident was seen at the Panmure address this morning.

The armed offenders squad searched the house at about 9.30am. Eyewitnesses said police helicopters supported police on the ground.

The squad did not find the suspect and police are still looking for him.

Panmure resident Ben Murray said he and his wife were woken up about 9.30am by the sound of two police helicopters overhead.

"They were just circling round and round, and I could hear sirens coming back and forth," he said. "It went on for probably an hour and a half."
