Armed offenders squad members were called to help police search a West Auckland property this morning.

Inspector Ian Brooker said it was a "low-level operation" in relation to a stolen vehicle.

Police were at the Kelston address for about an hour until 8.40am, he said.

No schools were placed in lockdown as a result.

"It's an ongoing thing," Mr Brooker said.

"We do them all the time, almost daily. It was in relation to a stolen vehicle."

No further information could be released, he said.
