Otago police and Armed Offenders Squad members were called to an alleged domestic violence incident this morning during which a firearm is believed to have been discharged.
Police staff from Cromwell, Alexandra, Wanaka and Dunedin Armed Offenders Squad attended were called to an address on SH8 between Cromwell and Tarras after the incident about 12.30am.
This was resolved at 8.50am with a man being taken into custody without further incident. One female at the address received minor injuries that were unrelated to the firearm.
SH8 was closed for a short while the address was contained.
The man is expected to face charges over the incident, police said.
