KEY POINTS:
More than 2,000 ANZ National Bank staff will strike next week.
Finance union Finsec say it has set industry goals this year for changes to sales targets, improved staffing levels and a real wage increase.
Campaigns Director Andrew Campbell says the bank has offered staff a four per cent pay increase, which covers inflation and not much else. He says on the issues of targets and staffing, the bank has not put anything forward at all.
Mr Campbell says the bank will not even attend industry discussions around incentive schemes that push debt onto customers.
The bank today defended its position, stating it pays more than its main competitors for similar jobs, "sometimes by as much as 15 per cent more".
"Our proposal to our staff for this year will see us retain the industry leadership position while also ensuring fairness and equity for all our staff, which is always a key objective for us", a spokesperson for ANZ National said.
