The impact of New Zealand's anti-spam law is being surveyed by Internal Affairs' Anti-Spam Compliance Unit.
The Unsolicited Electronic Messages (UEM) Act enacted in September 2007 prohibited unsolicited commercial electronic mail and enabled legal action against New Zealand-based spammers.
The unit has issued three statements of claim, 18 infringement notices and 218 formal warnings.
The survey is seeking business attitudes to unsolicited electronic messages and communications, and the awareness and effectiveness of the legislation.
The survey can be accessed via the website: www.antispam.govt.nz
